Barcelona open talks over two-year Dembele deal

Barcelona is reportedly planning to extend winger Ousmane Dembele's contract by two years.

The Frenchman's current contract at Camp Nou expires in the summer, allowing him to arrange a pre-contract agreement with other teams in January. He has missed the start of the new season due to injury.

The Catalan giants, on the other hand, are thought to be anxious to keep the forward and consider him as a key part of their ambitions, with club president Joan Laporta allegedly in talks with the 24-year-old's agent.

Given the club's financial difficulties, the Blaugrana have planned a two-year extension with a previously negotiated pay drop, while also providing the option of a three-year term with even lower earnings, according to Sport.es.

Dembele has already piqued the curiosity of Manchester United, who could make a move before the end of the year, but he has yet to pledge his future to Barcelona.

Since joining the Blaugrana for £120 million from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, the Frenchman has made 118 appearances for the club, scoring 30 goals and assisting 21 times while winning two La Liga crowns and two Copa del Rey cups.
