Chelsea's manager Thomas Tuchel has defended Romelu Lukaku’s performance as Chelsea lost 1-0 to Manchester City last Saturday at home in London.
The European champions took their first loss of the new Premier League season as Gabriel Jesus’ second-half strike secured the victory for the Cityzens at Stamford Bridge.
The defeat saw Lukaku cut a lonely figure upfront and failed to deliver a single shot on goal against City goalkeeper Ederson.
However, his German manager Tuchel has dismissed all suggestions that Lukaku let his team down on the day.
"I don’t think it is necessary to talk about Romelu struggling today when we reached Romelu the attack was already half over because there were not enough people and there was simply no belief and connection," said Tuchel in the post-match chat.
"It was a team problem, not an individual problem," Tuchel concluded.
Coming up next for the Blues is UEFA Champions League action against the mighty Juventus in Torino.
