England international Phil Foden is set to sign a new contract with Manchester City in the coming days.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakout campaign last season, winning the Premier League Young Player of the Season award and the PFA Young Player of the Year where he helped the club to their third Premier League title in four years.
The player was also part of a City team that won their fourth successive Carabao Cup and reached their first Champions League final with his efforts rewarded last week where he joined four of his City colleagues in the 30-person 2021 Ballon d'Or nominations list.
The Athletic now reports that City are moving with speed to secure the future of the player at the Etihad despite his current deal expiring in the summer of 2024. While the contract is yet to be finalized, the club believes that there will be no obstacles in convincing the Englishman to extend his stay at the club.
The new deal will see the youngster become one of the highest earners in the team as they think he represents the future of the club and England.
