🇳🇴 Odegaard: It was hard to make friends at Real Madrid

Former Real Madrid star Martin Odegaard found it a hard challenge to fit in and be comfortable in the Los Blancos squad.

The Norwegian arrived in Madrid as a teenager of 15 but it was not enough to eventually guarantee him success as a first-team footballer.

"There were many tough periods both with the first team and the second team," he said in an interview with Norwegian channel TV2.

"But being around the best made me stronger. I feel that I have grown thanks to Madrid and I have learned from players like [Sergio] Ramos and Cristiano [Ronaldo].

"When you are at the highest level, it is not as easy to make friends and that kind of thing. At least not when you are young and come from somewhere else.

The Arsenal midfielder concluded to say the experience built a strong character in him.

"I came from a different dressing room culture and it is not easy to fit into a changing room [like the one at Madrid]. It was difficult but it is something that has made me stronger and I am happy to have experienced it,” he concluded.

Coming up next for Odegaard and the Gunners is the visit of Patrick Vieira's Crytal Palace to the Emirates this weekend.
