Blow for Chelsea as Lukaku, Werner pick injuries in Malmo win

Chelsea might have easily brushed off Swedish side Malmo FF in their Wednesday night Champions League clash but it came at a cost.

The Thomas Tuchel side won 4-0 in the game with defender Andreas Christensen opening the goalscoring proceedings after just nine minutes, his first goal for the Blues in 137 appearances.

Jorginho doubled their lead from the penalty spot after Romelu Lukaku was fouled in the box but the penalty came at a cost as the Belgian was injured in the process and was to be replaced.

Apart from Lukaku, striker Timo Werner also limped off during the game a move that might leave the Blues short hading into their weekend game with Tuchel confirming after the game that the duo are likely to miss a few matches.

Kai Havertz answered Thomas Tuchel's call for goals by scoring Chelsea's third just after half-time with Jorginhos coring another penalty to seal the victory. The win sees the Blues now second in Group H, three points behind Juventus after three games.

Chelsea who are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League hosts Norwich in their next game and will hope that the injuries to the duo isn't serious as they have games against Southampton and Newcastle United coming up before facing Malmo again.
