Scott McTominay has been ruled out of Scotland's World Cup 2022 Qualifying match against Denmark, which has given Manchester United a fitness scare.
The midfielder joined Steve Clarke's team for the November fixtures, but was unable to play in the 2-0 win over Moldova on Friday night owing to a throat ailment.
McTominay was already a question mark for Monday's dead rubber against Denmark, but Clarke has now confirmed that the 24-year-old will not play.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference, the Scotland boss said: "Scott is definitely out. Scott hasn't recovered enough from his virus."
McTominay has been a vital player for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season, and the Red Devils are hoping to have him back for Saturday's Premier League match against Watford.
The Scotland international has made 12 appearances for Man United in all competitions this season, but has yet to score or provide an assist.
