Barcelona's new signing Dani Alves has opened up on why he chose the number 8 shirt in his second stint at the club.
The Brazilian was officially unveiled on Wednesday for the second time in his career in front of over 10,000 fans.
Speaking before the fans, he revealed why he picked the legendary number 8 shirt, which was famously won by Andres Iniesta, whom he played alongside.
"I chose it because you have to pay tribute in life. I want to do it for Hristo Stoichkov and the great Andrés Iniesta," he confessed.
The club president Joan Laporta was also presented during the unveiling, with Alves unable to hide his excitement.
"I am here once again. The last time I grabbed the microphone I said that I did not know how long this dream would last, or it had come to an end, but now we can say no!
"You made me feel like one of you and I have come back because I am one of you." He added: "Between us all we have to put Barça back where they belong."
Alves becomes new manager Xavi's first signing and will be expected to lead the club back to glory following recent poor performances.
