Barcelona president fails to rule out Iniesta, Messi return

FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta has refused to rule out the possibility of having Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta back to the club.

Messi left the club last summer for PSG having spent all his life with the Catalan giants with Iniesta now with Japanese side Vissel Kobe.

With the return of Xavi Hernandes as the club's new manager, there is a feeling that their former midfielder wants the club to incorporate some of the legends in the club business so as to help him run things around smoothly.

Xavi has already re-signed defender Dani Alves with Laporta confident that they might have Messi and Iniesta back in the future as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

"I don’t rule it out,” he replied when asked whether Messi and Iniesta could make a remarkable return.“Today it’s Dani, tomorrow it could be others. They’re great men who have made the club what it is, and Leo and Andres are two spectacular players. I can’t predict the future.

"They’re still playing, they’re Barcelona greats, and they’ll always be present with us but they are players with a contract in force with other clubs and that must be respected. But in life you never know.”

Iniesta joined Barcelona at 12 from Albacete and spent 16 years at the club until his departure for the Japanese side Vissel Kobe in 2018. Messi joined the club from Newell’s Old Boys at 13 and went on to enjoy 17 gloriously successful seasons in Catalonia.
