United had a slow start on the game and De Gea was called into action as Gomez Bardonado was given too much space to get a low shot off from the left edge of the box, with the Spain keeper doing well to turn the drive away to safety.
Danjuma's ball in from the left stroke Wan-Bissaka on the hand in the box, before going behind for a corner - the VAR had a look at that but decided the right-back could not have got out of the way of that.
De Gea save
The Spaniard kept United in the game with a sensational fingertip to turn Trigueros Munoz's low drive from just inside the box behind for a corner.
It was fantastic pressure from Fred on Capoue to nick the ball deep in Villarreal's half. The ball deflected to Ronaldo and Rulli was off his line. Of course, Ronaldo spotted it and made the lobbed finish look so easy.
Jadon Sancho finally got his first goal for the Red Devils. Fred broke the play and sparked the attack. Ronaldo threaded through Rashford in behind who laid it across to Fernandes. He set up Sancho and he smacked an unstoppable effort into the top corner.
Both Atalanta and Young Boys can mathematically reach the last 16, sitting in third and fourth with five points and three points respectively.
