Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara believes his side is capable of winning this season's Champions League.
The Reds have already secured a spot in the knockout stages after being confirmed the leaders of Group B with two games to spare. Should Liverpool with the UCL, Alcantara will become just the second player to win the trophy with three different teams having won the tournament during his spells with Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
The former Munich midfielder believes Liverpool can win the tournament if the Reds can bring their ‘best’ to every game.
"I learnt that it’s very, very tough to win a Champions League," Thiago told a pre-match press conference.
"But in a more than 10-year career, yes I’ve been in two finals and won twice but I lost more than eight, so it’s tough to go through every stage because you play against the best teams and players in the world."
"We have to bring our best and be better in every game and if we do that we can achieve everything."
On his life at Anfield
"The first year was very interrupted because of the Covid situation and because of injuries," he added.
"But then I had a quick adaptation in with the team in the league."
"We struggled last season for many reasons and this year it’s better with teammates, the runs they make, how they prefer to receive the ball, how they defend and attack so in my performances I’m open to help the team in different ways as the coach and my teammates want."
Jurgen Klopp's men will host FC Porto at Anfield tonight aiming to keep their 100% record in this season's tournament.
