πŸ“Š Chelsea vs Man United: Stat-pack

Chelsea vs Man United at Stamford Bridge has been a momentous occasion down the years.

It's a fixture steeped in drama and title-defining moments in the modern era.

Although nothing will be decided this Sunday, it's a huge test for new United caretaker boss Michael Carrick against Thomas Tuchel's European champions, although the United man did get a morale-boosting win in his first game in charge at Villarreal.

Here are a few bits and pieces to preview this heavyweight EPL fixture.

🔵🔴 Chelsea vs Man United: Stat-pack

  • Chelsea is winless in their last seven Premier League matches against Man United, only having a longer run without a league win against the Red Devils once before (10 matches between 1938 and 1950).
  • The last two EPL meetings between these sides ended 0-0.

  • This is the fifth time Chelsea has hosted United in a Premier League match when starting the day as the league leaders. The Blues have won three of the last four (L1), going on to win the title in the season of each of the three victories (2005-06, 2009-10 and 2014-15).

  • Man United has kept a clean sheet in each of their last four Premier League meetings with Chelsea – the only team to record a shutout in more consecutive league matches against the Blues is Newcastle United, who managed six in a row between 1913 and 1919.
  • That being said, Chelsea is in formidable form, winning four of their last five in the EPL and conceding just a single goal in that sequence.
  • Thomas Tuchel has presided over 50 games as Chelsea manager with his record reading (W32, D11, L7), and his side has kept 31 clean sheets in that time and conceded only 24 goals.

  • In all competitions, Cristiano Ronaldo has scored just one goal in 15 appearances against Chelsea, doing so in the 2008 UEFA Champions League final. The Blues are the side he has faced the most in league football (10 matches) without scoring.

Getting past Chelsea and Edouard Mendy has become one of the biggest challenges in football today, but we wouldn't put it past Cristiano Ronaldo to give it his best shot.
