Mohamed Salah’s Egypt teammate Mahmoud Trezeguet believes the Liverpool ace is the best in the world despite missing out on the Ballon d'Or this week.
The voting results revealed that Salah finished seventh while the only African player, Riyad Mahrez, came in at number 20.
According to Trezeguet, Salah is nevertheless in a good position to claim the Ballon d’Or next year.
“I know that Salah feels sad that he did not win the Ballon d’Or, but he is the best player in the world, and this is not a compliment, but he indeed is the best,” Trezeguet told MBC Masr TV channel, as per King Fut.
“Salah is a great player and a role model for me and everyone that wants to succeed, his records are great and I think he deserved to win the award, I am sure he will try to win the Ballon d’Or again next year,” he added.
Meanwhile, Egypt are set to compete in the final play-off round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers - with the draw yet to be confirmed.
