Mikel Arteta urged to drop Arsenal captain Aubameyang

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been urged by ex-striker Kevin Campbell to drop club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Aubameyang has been struggling this season in front of the goal having scored just four league goals. In the last five games in all competitions, the club captain has failed to see the back of the net. The Gabon international was given the mandate to lead the Gunners' attack on Thursday against Manchester United and ended up missing key chances and he rarely threatened the Red Devils' backline.

Former Arsenal striker Campbell suggests the 32-year-old needs to be dropped in the upcoming matches.

"It’s just not happening for him, is it? It might be time for him to come out the team," Campbell said on the Highbury Squad.

"No matter what he does, what he tries, it’s not happening. It seems like we’re carrying him. He can’t stick it away! It’s painful to watch. It’s really painful to watch."

The Gunners will be up against Everton on Monday in their next Premier League fixture.
