Here's what happened in the Premier League today

There are five Premier League matches today, and here are the results from the 6pm (EAT) matches.

  • Wolves 0-1 Liverpool
Liverpool moved top of the table with a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers thanks to substitute Divock Origi's stoppage-time goal. The Reds created the majority of opportunities but were thwarted for the majority of the match by a tenacious home side.  Wolves are eighth with 21 points after their first defeat in four matches, and Liverpool surpass Chelsea with 34 points, but could be overtaken by Manchester City if they defeat Watford.

  • Newcastle 1-0 Burnley
Newcastle drew level on points with fellow relegation rivals Burnley on Saturday afternoon with a narrow, nervy 1-0 victory at St James' Park. Five minutes before half-time, Magpies striker Callum Wilson scored the game's only goal, turning and firing low after Nick Pope dropped the ball in a collision with Burnley defender Fabian Schar - with Burnley believing it should have been a free-kick.

  • Southampton 1-1 Brighton
Saints dominated Brighton for 97 minutes yesterday, making them look pitifully average. However, on 98 minutes, so-called wasteful striker Neal Maupay equalized, putting an end to hopes of an impressive victory. Maupay had rescued a point for Brighton for the second time this week, and while the club is now winless in ten matches, these could be crucial draws.
