Watford 1-3 Man City: It's Bernado Silva's world, we're just living in it

Bernardo Silva underlined his importance to Manchester City once again with two goals in a dominant 3-1 victory over Watford.

The Portuguese, who was earlier this week dubbed the Premier League's best player on current form, got his first goal when he fired in a rebound with his right foot to put City 2-0 up. Silva's second goal, and City's third, was sublime, as he cut inside on the right before curling the ball well beyond Daniel Bachmann's reach and into the top corner.

Pep Guardiola's side, who are now Premier League leaders, took an early lead thanks to a Raheem Sterling header. For the hosts, Cucho Hernandez scored a consolation goal.

However, one player who failed to score was Jack Grealish, who was reintroduced to the starting XI in a false nine role. Grealish's blank was not due to a lack of effort – the England international could have had six goals had he been wearing his shooting boots.

What next?

As a result of Chelsea's defeat at West Ham earlier in the day, City move a point clear of second-placed Liverpool at the top. Watford remain three points above the relegation zone in seventeenth place.

Pep Guardiola's men will now turn their attention to Tuesday's Champions League match against RB Leipzig, having already secured top spot in Group A ahead of Saturday's Premier League match against Wolves. On Friday evening, Watford will travel to Brentford.
