Newcastle United are set to launch a bid for Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard in January.
Lingard is yet to sign a new deal at Old Trafford with the club ready to let him go in January if they can find the right offer. The same arrangements have been in place for the midfielder but clubs like West Ham couldn't match the player's wage demands something that Newcastle can do owing to their new owners.
The Times report that talks between the Magpies and Lingard's representatives have already taken place, even going as far as to offer the midfielder a lucrative salary. The reports indicate that the 28-year-old has a four-and-a-half-year deal on the table that is said to be in excess of £100,000-a-week.
Lingard is said to have rejected a move to West Ham United in the summer, having spent the second half last season at the London Stadium, where he scored nine goals in 16 games.
United wont want to let the player leave for free and will welcome a bid in January with Lingard also keen to leave as he wants more game time to boost his chances of making the England squad for the 2022 World Cup.
