Champions League: Leipzig stun City to secure third spot as PSG eliminate Brugge

Paris Saint-Germain finished their Champions League group stage match in style, beating Club Brugge 4-1.

Brugge has officially been eliminated from the tournament at an early stage after picking just a single victory in their six group stages matches.

PSG took the lead early through Kylian Mbappe before the Frenchman added the second in the seventh minute. A few minutes to halftime, Lionel Messi made it 3-0 with a lovely shot with his left foot.

In the second half, Club Brugge grabbed a consolation through Mats Rits who had a cool finish from the far bottom corner beyond Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Lionel Messi made it 4-1 through from the spot beating Simon Mignolet for the second time.

City stunned

Manchester City have been beaten by RB Leipzig at Red Bull Arena in their final Champions League group stage.

Pep Guardiola's men found themselves trailing in the 24th minute thanks to Dominik Szoboszlai's strike. There was a superb run from Szoboszlai after City were caught napping through the middle. Laimer chipped the ball forward for Szoboszlai to run on to, he was well away from Stones and easily passed to sliding Steffen for an easy finish. There was a brief VAR check for offside but he was onside.

In the 71st minute, Leipzig doubled their lead through Andre Silva who finished with a superb strike.

City pulled one back as Zinchenko sent in a wonderful ball from the left with Mahrez lurking at the back post. He stooped down to send the ball into the far corner with his head.

Red card

Andre Silva was incensed after a challenge, jumping up and into Walker's face. The City defender kicked the back of his heels and it was a straight red card with the players piling in to make their feelings known. The England international will now miss the first knockout game for Guardiola's men.

It was all but confirmed and City finish at the top of Group A with 12 points while PSG come second with 11. Both teams advanced to the last 16 of the UCL with a game to spare while RB Leipzig drop to Europa League with Brugge leaving the party early.
