UCL: Atletico Madrid through to the last 16, AC Milan eliminated as Porto finish third

AC Milan were eliminated from this season's Champions League after suffering a 2-1 loss to Liverpool in the final game of group stages.

Milan took the lead from a corner and it was Fikayo Tomori putting the ball past Alisson who had saved the initial attempt on goal.

The Reds allowed Milan's lead to last for minutes as Mohamed Salah found the back of the net. Oxlade-Chamberlain found the target with a dipping drive which Maignan can only parry into the path of Salah. The Egyptian made no mistake and scored his 20th goal of the season.

The Reds took the lead in the 55th minute and it was that man again Divock Origi who scored the winner against Wolverhampton over the weekend. Tomori was at fault and Mane pounced on the error but his effort was palmed away from the goal by Miagnan but into the middle of the box.

Origi was in the right place and headed in his first Champions League goal since the 2019 final into the unguarded net.

It was a game full of emotions as Agustín Marchesín was given a straight red card while on the bench. Antoine Griezmann scored the opening goal in the second half from the corner as he helped his side make it to the knock-out stages.

In the stoppage time, Ángel Correa made it 2-0 after being put through by Griezmann before Rodrigo de Paul added the third to seal victory for the visitors.

Both teams were forced to finish the match with ten men after Yannick Carrasco and Wendell were shown red cards for violent conduct.
