Laliga giants FC Barcelona might miss the services of defender Jordi Alba when they take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
While Alba has been included in the traveling list, SPORT reports that the Spaniard is doubtful for the game as he finished the game against Real Betis with discomfort with a decision yet to be made as to f he will start the game or be placed on the bench.
The news is a blow for coach Xavi who doesn't have an able replacement for the player. He could go for a like-for-like switch and bet on Alejandro Balde on the left, or he could switch it up and use Ilias Akhomach as a pseudo-wingback.
Sergino Dest is one player who has been deployed as left-back multiple times and could play that role with Oscar Mingueza being the other option in the position.
But it's not only Barcelona who are suffering injuries heading into the game as hosts Bayern have worries of their own. The Bavarians will be without six first-team players in Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, Eric Choupo-Mouting, Michael Cuisance, Marcel Sabitzer, and Leon Goretzka.
The game is a must-win for Barcelona if they are to be assured of a place in the knockout round as Benfica who tail them by two points has a date with Dynamo Kyiv on the same day.
