Has something like this been said before? Alex Song has revealed he didn’t care much about playing at FC Barcelona, he was about the cash.
The former Cameroonian midfielder moved to Barcelona from Arsenal in 2014 for a deal that was around €19 million.
With just 65 appearances in four years at the Spanish giants, Song said he knew before the move that it was purely for money.
"When Barcelona offered me a contract, and I saw how much I would earn, I didn't think twice," Song said in an Instagram chat with NBA star Pascal Siakam, as per The Sun.
"I felt my wife and children should have comfortable lives once my career is over.
"I met Barca's sporting director, and he told me I would not get to play many games, but I didn't give a f*** – I knew that now I would become a millionaire.
"I wanted to rub shoulders with the big boys. I could shop wherever I wanted and have crazy nights out,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are set to take on Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey on Thursday.
