Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has returned to London and could be available for selection this weekend against Burnley.
Partey has been away with the Ghana national team in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament being held in Cameroon. Partey and the co were eliminated from the tournament after finishing fourth in their group and the midfielder is now back in London.
Arsenal face Liverpool tonight in the EFL Cup semi-final second leg but the Ghana international is likely to miss the home tie. However, the 28-year-old is expected to be available for selection over the weekend when the Gunners take on Burnley.
Head coach Mikel Arteta will be pleased to have Partey back with the north London side short of midfielder with Granit Xhaka suspended while Mohamed Elneny is still at AFCON with Egypt.
Arteta on Ghana's exit
"It was a huge disappointment for Thomas obviously because he was representing his country and in this period he had big aims towards the competition,” Arteta said of Partey’s return on Wednesday.
“He’s out now so he will be fully focused and involved with Arsenal as soon as possible.”
