Algeria were knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations following a 3-1 loss to Ivory Coast on Thursday evening.
Ivory Coast opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through Frankie Kessie. Pepe had a nice one-two on the edge of the box and pulled it back into the path of Kessie who made it 1-0.
Just before halftime, Coast scored the second following a terrible defending from Algeria. Free-kick from a fair distance out swung into the box and Sangare was completely free at the far post and Sangare headed home.
In the second half, Ivory Coast netted the third goal and it was over for Algeria. Pepe was put through on goal on the right side of the pitch, he danced past defenders before unleashing a shot at the bottom of the corner.
Algeria were awarded a controversial penalty after Belaili went down following a minimal contact and the referee pointed to the spot. Riyad Mahrez stepped up to take it but he hit the post after sending the goalkeeper on the wrong side.
Sofiane Bendebka pulled one back for Algeria after Belaili crossed the ball meeting the Al-Fateh's midfielder who headed home unmarked.
In the stoppage tome, Sebastian Haller headed home Serge Aurier's cross but the goal didn't count as he was in an offside position.
Ivory Coast will now face Egypt in the last 16 of the AFCON tournament.
In the other match of Group E, Equatorial Guinea advanced to the last 16 following a 1-0 victory over Sierra Lione. Pablo Ganet scored the only goal as Kei Kamara missed a penalty in the second half.
Kwame Qwee was sent off in the stoppage time after he received the second yellow card for a bookable offense.
