Reports: Watford ready to part ways with Claudio Ranieri

According to reports, Claudio Ranieri will be dismissed from his Watford managerial responsibilities following his side's humiliating 3-0 home loss to struggling Norwich City on Friday.

The defeat dropped the Hornets to 18th place in the Premier League table, three points behind leaders Norwich, although with two games still to play.

Since Ranieri took over, Watford have lost 11 of his 14 games in charge. This, 90min understands, has encouraged owner Gino Pozzo to make a change, with the Italian poised to depart the club in the near future.

The Hornets have been contemplating a change in head coach for some time, despite Ranieri's October appointment.

Watford are not scheduled to play next until Saturday 5 February, when they travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley in another crucial relegation six-pointer. This provides them considerable time to identify a replacement for Ranieri.

The former Chelsea and Leicester manager had pledged to fight on following the Norwich setback, but it now looks as though he will not be given that chance.

"No, I don't go away, I want to continue because I am a fighter," Ranieri said when quizzed about his future.

"I never give up in my career, this is a good team but they must change the mentality, some players have to follow (Moussa) Sissoko and (Tom) Cleverley, the two captains, this is my word."
