Michael Owino scored a last-minute equaliser as Wazito FC forced a 1-1 draw against Coast-based side Bandari FC in a Kenya Premier League clash played at the Kasarani Annex on Monday afternoon.
Johanna Mwita scored for the visitors just before the break, but Owino gave the hosts a deserved point deep in added time.
Bandari were winless in their last three Kenyan Premier League matches and went into the clash looking to halt the poor run.
They started the match on the right note even though they could not make their possession count with both sides struggling to create clear chances.
They had to wait until the 43rd minute for the first goal of the match, and it came courtesy of Mwita, who headed home a perfect Dennis Magige cross to lead at halftime.
The second half was a replica of the first, but it was the hosts who pushed more as they searched for an equaliser.
It arrived in the 93rd minute as Owino found the back of the net with a lovely volley.
The draw means Bandari are yet to win since their 1-0 victory over Sofapaka early this month.
Wazito, on the other hand, are yet to lose in their last three matches, with two wins and a draw.
In another match, defending champions Tusker FC were held to a goalless draw away at Vihiga United.
The Brewers were unlucky to have left Kakamega with only a point, as Luvanda came close to breaking the deadlock late on, but his ferocious volley crashed against the post and Vihiga cleared.
- Wazito 1-1 Bandari
- Vihiga 0-0 Tusker
- Nairobi City Stars 1-1 Kakamega Homeboyz
