🏆 Europa League Roundup: West Ham, Barcelona, and Lyon through to quarter-finals

West Ham United overturned a first-leg deficit to knock out Six-time UEFA Cup/Europa League winners Sevilla in a thrilling contest in London on Thursday night.

The Spanish club led 1-0 from the first leg played in Spain a week ago, but a 39th-minute Tomáš Souček header leveled the tie on aggregate in front of a record attendance at London Stadium.

No further goals could be found in the regulation 90 minutes but substitute Andriy Yarmolenko ensured the comeback was complete in extra time, sending the London Stadium into delirium.

The Hammers have now won five of the last six UEFA competition ties in which they lost the first leg away.

In Turkey, Barcelona ensured their march to the quarters could not be stopped as they came from a goal down to beat Galatasaray 2-1.

With the match evenly poised at 0-0 from the first leg, Galatasaray, led by former Barcelona assistant Domènec Torrent, struck the first blow of the tie when Marcão dived to head in Alexandru Cicaldau's 29th-minute corner.

It was all level eight minutes later as Pedri pulled the visitors level with a fine move, leaving two Cimbom players sprawling before stroking home.

It was all the Catalan club needed as they took control of the match from that point onwards, and eventually got the winner early in the second half as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tapped home what proved the winner.

Italian side Atalanta too ensured their safe passage to the last eight after a late Jeremie Boga goal handed them a 1-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.

The Italians were never in danger of losing their 3-2 advantage from the first leg as they put in a near-perfect defensive display to keep out the hosts, who could have scored were it not for some good goalkeeping.

In the end, Leverkusen were bundled out, losing 4-2 on aggregate.

The quarter-final draw will be done on Friday in Nyon, Switzerland.
