Burnley vs Everton

This rescheduled Premier League match between Burnley and Everton could have massive ramifications at the bottom of the table when all is said and done. Only one of Burnley’s last eight EPL home games has seen both teams score, and they're on a goalless streak of a little over 400 minutes of playing time themselves. Everton is the only side in England's top four tiers yet to pick up a single away point in 2022 after they fell to yet another defeat on Sunday. The Toffees have won only one of their last five trips to Turf Moor and the Clarets will be looking to end their own five-game winless streak here. It's not going to be pretty, but it could be very significant.

Chelsea vs Real Madrid

Chelsea's recent form across all competitions has been imperious since a small wobble over Christmas, which feels like a long time ago, a defeat at Stamford Bridge against Brentford on Saturday notwithstanding. Under Thomas Tuchel they have become specialists in knockout environments, with the Blues winning the Champions League, reaching last season's FA Cup final and this season's Carabao Cup final as well as this season's FA Cup semi-final. Real Madrid may have produced that miraculous comeback against PSG in the last round but they won't be handed gifts like that by Chelsea's backline. Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is unbeaten as a manager against Spanish opposition (W5, D4), and we have reason to believe they'll keep things tight again here against a side they vanquished in last season's semifinals.

Villarreal vs Bayern Munich

Villarreal may be underdogs here but they are a dangerous outfit, as evidenced by their 4-1 aggregate thumping of Juventus in the round of 16. Bayern ran out 8-2 aggregate winners against RB Salzburg but did give up a host of chances, and that defensive openness will worry Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann. Backing Villarreal to avoid defeat in the first leg in Spain would be a serious value play if it comes off. We're happy to avoid the results market though and go for goals. Bear in mind that free-scoring Bayern has notched three or more goals in four of their last five UCL meetings against Spanish opposition.
