🚨 Chelsea beat Crystal Palace to book FA Cup final date with Liverpool

Chelsea scored two second-half goals to see off a resilient Crystal Palace 2-0 and book a place in the FA Cup final.

The European champions went into the match on the back of an agonising defeat in Madrid in the Champions League, and they produced a good performance to book a place in yet another final.

The match, at the iconic Wembley, was devoid of clear chances in the opening half, with Palace coming closest to opening the scores in the 35th minute when Cheikhou Kouyate made a yard for himself and produced a mid-range rocket of a shot towards the right side of the goal only for Edouard Mendy to pull off a fantastic save to stop the effort.

Thomas Tuchel was forced to make a first-half change when Mateo Kovacic picked an injury, and was replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The Blues came back for the second half a better side, and they were rewarded in the 65th minute as Loftus-Cheek gave them the opener.

A defensive lapse allowed Kai Havertz, with acres of space on the edge of the box, to pull the ball back for Loftus-Cheek, whose deflected shot from inside the box went past the helpless Jack Butland.

With 15 minutes to go, the Blues got their second of the day when Timo Werner played a simple square pass into the feet of Mason Mount in the box, who composed himself and lashed the ball into the bottom right corner.

Palace created a chance almost immediately on the other end, but Joachim Andersen placed his header just over the bar from close range much to the dismay of many.

Despite their best efforts, the Eagles could not find their way back into the match, with the Blues picking a comfortable win in the end.

Chelsea will now take on Liverpool in the May final.
