🚨Harry Kane penalty sends Tottenham fourth

Tottenham Hotspur climbed above Arsenal in fourth in the English Premier League standings after a laboured 1-0 win over Burnley on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs needed a win to ensure they keep their chances of finishing in the top four, and they got the job done just before the break thanks to Harry Kane's penalty.

The hosts were the better side throughout the match, creating a number of chances in both halves.

The first chance fell to Heung-Min Son in the 13th minute when he connected with a pass around the edge of the box, but his attempt towards the bottom left corner was kept out by Nick Pope.

Five minutes late, Kane planted a goal-bound header towards the left post after a nice cross inside the box, but one of the defenders managed to deflect it away.

Burnley had a chance just before the half-hour mark when Maxwell Cornet unleashed a shot to the left side of the goal, but the goalkeeper made a fantastic save.

Spurs got the chance to open the scores deep into first-half added minutes when Burnley handled the ball inside the box, and Kane stepped up to easily beat the goalkeeper.

Ashley Barnes came close to equalising for Burnley midway through the second half when he controlled a pass,  went past a defender, and curled a shot from the edge of the box right onto the left post.

Nick Pope then pulled off a great save to deny Heung-Min Son after he received a precise defence-splitting pass.

The Korean's effort was headed for the bottom left corner, but the goalkeeper dived superbly to stop it.

There were half-chances in the remaining 20 or so minutes of the match, but Spurs held on to pick maximum points.

The win saw Spurs move above Arsenal in the race for a top-four finish, with their last match of the season away at relegated Norwich City.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will be in action on Monday night away at Newcastle.
