Arsenal have confirmed the £3 million acquisition of Marquinhos, a 19-year-old Brazilian forward from Sao Paulo.
Welcome, Marquinhos 🙌— Arsenal (@Arsenal) June 13, 2022
The striker, however, will have an opportunity to shine in pre-season under Mikel Arteta, and technical director Edu has identified the South American as a player to watch in the coming years.
"We're delighted to have completed the transfer with Sao Paulo, as Marquinhos was a player we had been watching for a while," Edu told arsenal.com.
"At 19, he is still very young, so he is a player for the future. We look forward to Marquinhos now joining us for pre-season, making his new home, and continuing to grow and develop with us."
Marquinhos was promoted to the Sao Paulo first squad last year after progressing through the youth levels, and he has made a total of 41 senior appearances for Brazil in all competitions.
In that period, the youngster scored four goals and assisted on three more for Sao Paulo, making 21 appearances in Serie A and earning experience in the Copa Libertadores.
