Liverpool old boy wins Lazio player of the year award
Brazilian holding midfielder Lucas Leiva has been enjoying life after Anfield.
What a way to start the year! Thank you all that have voted and i hope we can continue this in 2019. pic.twitter.com/I0hxKqsx10— Lucas Leiva (@LucasLeiva87) January 7, 2019
Leiva was named as Lazio's best player of 2018, which might come as a surprise to some fans, as the Brazilian often came in for criticism because of his conservative style of play at Liverpool. Often a fringe player at Liverpool, Lucas seems to have settled in Italy at the ripe old age of 31.
Lazio finished last season in 6th position in Serie A and they're in the round of 32 in this season's Europa League and will face LaLiga high-flyers Sevilla next.
Lucas' old club Liverpool travel to Wolves tonight in the FA Cup.
