Nigerian forward joins Harambee Stars winger in China

Nigeria forward Sone Aluko has left English Championship side Reading for Chinese Super League side Beijing Renhe on loan for the rest of 2019.

The 30-year-old has scored one goal in 20 matches for the Royals this season, and made 60 appearances since his £7.5m transfer from Fulham in 2017.

Nigeria international Aluko has been a sporadic starter since Jose Gomes' arrival as manager in December.

His new club, who finished eighth in the Super League last season, begin their new campaign on 1 March.

Though largely underachieving with Nigeria at both youth and senior levels, Aluko has always found his way around clubs in England and Scotland with the left-footed winger having previously played for Birmingham City, Aberdeen, Hamilton Academical, Glasgow Rangers, Blackpool and Hull City.

The transfer was made easier due to the ties between Renhe and Reading with both clubs sharing the majority shareholders in Dai Yongge and Dai Xiu Li.

Renhe is home to Harambee Stars winger Ayub Timbe who is currently recuperating from a surgery.
