Kotoko’s Akonnor explains reason for CAF CC exit
Asante Kotoko head coach, CK Akonnor, has offered a reason for his side’s CAF Confederation Cup exit from the group stage, citing poor defending as the main letdown.
The Porcupine Warriors were sent packing on Sunday after losing 2-0 to Zambia’s Zesco United in Ndola.
Coach Akonnor was bitterly disappointed but nevertheless proud of his men.
“The goals we conceded since we started this campaign has been a major problem and it has affected us,” Akonnor told Ghana Soccer Net.
“Honestly, we’ve lost bitterly but I must say I’m proud of the boys.”
“Today [Sunday] is the end of the journey and hopefully we’ll learn from this campaign and comeback stronger,” concluded the former Black Stars forward.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Premier League is yet to confirm the start of the ‘Special Competition’ ahead of the GPL start in August 2019.
