Mosimane says Sundowns watched eight Al Ahly games
Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed what enabled him to mastermind the famous 5-0 thrashing of Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League on Saturday.
The South Africans known as Kabo Yellow have quite a big foot into the semi-finals after earning a five-goal lead in yesterday’s quarter-final first leg.
Asked in the post-game press conference how the outclassing was achieved, Mosimane confirmed that it was all about thorough homework and preparation.
“We watched eight games of Al Ahly,” Mosimane told Power FM.
“The last two were of Pyramids and Zamalek. We got the patterns, how they play. We did our homework. It wasn't luck. We worked for it. We knew all their danger areas, all their danger men,” he added.
The former Bafana Bafana coach and 2016 CAF Coach of the Year concluded the chat by showing a level of respect for his opposite coaching counterpart, Martin Lasarte.
“We do not want to talk a lot. This is a big coach with a big CV. We have to show respect. If he puts his CV here and I put mine, I will have to hide mine under a table. I know that losing 5-0 is hard. Let's show humility and respect," he concluded.
