Former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Keanan Bennetts has rejected an opportunity to feature for the Nigeria national team ahead of the FIFA U20 World Cup.
According to All Nigeria Soccer reports, Flying Eagles head coach Paul Aigbogun was keen to add Bennetts on the provisional roster but the winger turned down the offer as he reportedly wants to concentrate on his Borussia Mönchengladbach career.
The sought-after 20-year-old told that he was on the verge of breaking into the first team squad and did not want to ruin his chances of making his competitive debut for the Bundesliga this season but was dealt with a torn muscle injury.
Bennetts has been tipped as a versatile player who can ply his trade as a left winger, left midfielder and central back which would have given the Flying Eagles team an extra edge if he had opted to represent his native country.
Born in London, Keanan Bennetts is eligible to turn out to for the national teams of England, Germany, and Nigeria and has earned caps for the two European nations at youth level.
His brother, Jayden honored the invitation to attend the Flying Eagles training camp in Germany despite the fact he was just recovering from an injury.
