Following their 3-0 win over New England Revolution, Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek suffered an ankle injury as he was withdrawn midway into the second half.

The midfielder came on as a half-time substitute in the Final Whistle on Hate charity game against New England Revolution in the USA, but was involved in a heavy challenge in the 68th minute and had to be substituted as he went straight down the tunnel with Chelsea medical staff.

The injury comes at a critical time when N'golo Kante is also out nursing a hamstring problem and is facing a race against time to be fit for the UEFA Europa League final against Arsenal. Currently, Chelsea have only three fit first-team midfielders in the name of Ross Barkley, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic.
