Crystal Palace to battle Frankfurt for Hinteregger in the summer

12 Jun 2019, 11:45

Crystal Palace have reportedly joined the rapid race to sign Augsburg defender Martin Hinteregger this summer.

According to Bild, via Sport Witness, Crystal Palace are interested in signing Hinteregger ahead of next season.

The report claims that Palace are rivaling Frankfurt for his signature after he spent time on loan to the German club last term.

Hinteregger joined Frankfurt on loan in January and became a pivotal member of their squad as they reached the semi-finals of the Europa League – losing to Chelsea on penalties.

The 26-year-old joined Augsburg in 2016 and has made 83 appearances for the German club to date, scoring five goals from defence.

Bild claim that Augsburg are looking for a fee in the region of €15m for the central defender, whilst Frankfurt are currently only prepared to offer €10m for his services.

This means that Palace could swoop in and secure a deal under Frankfurt’s nose.
