Asamoah Gyan hailed as Ghana's 'greatest player' ever

Former Black Stars defender Samuel Johnson has insisted that Asamoah Gyan is 'the greatest' Ghanaian footballer of all time.

According to the former defender, who spoke to Happy FM, Gyan has done things no other Ghanaian player has ever done before.

“Gyan is the greatest Ghana player of all time. He has done more things than everyone who has played for the Black Stars has done. When it comes to goal scoring, he is better than everyone, He is the only player in Africa who has more goals in the World cup”, Sam Johnson trumpeted.

“Times when things are difficult for Ghana in a particular match, Gyan will come from nowhere and will make things possible,” he said.

Gyan is the 'general captain' of the Black Stars team that will be heading to Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, which is set to kick off on June 21.

He had initially retired from the national team, only to rescind his decision days later and was named in the team travelling to for the tourney.

He will lead the team in search of the AFCON title, which has eluded them for over three decades now.

Andre Ayew will be team's captain during the tournament.
