Liverpool and Egypt talisman Mohamed Salah missed today’s training session just hours before the battle against South Africa.
The update, which thousands of South African fans will gladly accept, was announced by the Egypt Federation hours before training today. Egypt's feed explained that Salah is out due to a cold.
“Because of his cold exposure, Mohamed Salah will not be able to participate in the group training today for the national team, so that his condition does not worsen, following the presentation of the order to the technical director Javier Aguirre,” said the translated statement on social media.
The North vs South battle, which is a rematch since the AFCON 1998 final which Egypt won in Burkina Faso, is set for 21:00 on Saturday evening. The winner will meet whoever gets the result between Nigeria and Cameroon in the last eight.
