Futaa's Indispensables series looks at seven key men who their countries simply cannot do without if they are to taste glory in Egypt this year.
Mohamed Salah is a man that needs virtually no introduction, after two seasons in the Premier League that have catapulted him to superstardom and the top bracket of world class attacking players around the globe.
Salah in a nutshell 🥜
After a trying three-year-spell at Chelsea, Salah has blossomed into a complete player. At 27, he's the finished article and one of the most devastating attacking players in Europe and a Champions League winner.
Loan spells away from Chelsea in Serie A saw him hone his finishing skills at Fiorentina and then Roma. He would seal a permanent move to the Italian capital, becoming a key player. Liverpool signed him in 2017 for a then-club record fee, and he's never looked back.
Salah's mesmerising pace, dribbling and finishing ability saw him break records in the 2017/2018 season, clinching the Golden Boot with 32 goals in 36 games, the record for a player in a single season. His direct contribution to 72 goals in the last two Premier League seasons speaks volumes.
His AFCON so far 🌍
Salah already has two goals to his name so far this tournament, and he will fancy his chances of adding to that tally when Egypt faces South Africa. If Egypt can clear that hurdle, they'll feel as though they can advance into the latter stages and Salah will be integral to their quest of winning the AFCON title on home soil.

Egypt skipper Ahmed Elmohamady has all of the experience and know-how in the world, and he'll be back in the Premier League next season after Aston Villa's successful playoff push. The versatile 31-year-old has scored twice in this tournament and knows how to do deal with the pressure that's inevitable during high stakes football matches.
Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has fallen down the pecking order in North London but remains a central figure in the Egypt setup. Elneny, once a teammate of Salah's at FC Basel, is economical in possession and helps dictate the passing tempo for the Pharaohs.
