πŸ”΄πŸ‡§πŸ‡· Our early observations of Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli

The Brazilian teenager's arrival came out of the blue and Arsenal fans got to see him in action as soon as the opening day of the Premier League season away to Newcastle when he was brought on as a substitute.

Martinelli got his first goals for the club in their 5-0 hammering of Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup with a header following a great team move and a solo strike from range after getting beyond a few defenders.

Since then, he's scored six more times to bring his Arsenal tally to eight goals & two assists in 14 appearances across all competitions, and only nine of those were starts.

Here's a closer look at the talented 18-year-old attacker.

🇧🇷 What's Martinelli's story so far?

He was the second-top scorer with six goals in the São Paulo state championship and helped Ituano into the quarterfinals before his big move to London. Martinelli has shone for Brazil at various youth levels. The Arsenal move was expected to be confirmed for some time, but it was delayed because of his age and the need to coincide the official announcement with Arsenal's launch of their new Adidas kit.

It's been a while since The Gunners made a foray into the South American market for young talent, and the club's faithful will hope that they have an exciting player on their hands. The early signs certainly look promising.

☄️ Playing style & what's stood out so far

Martinelli is a direct, goal-scoring winger/striker who likes to cut inside and shoot off the left flank with his preferred right foot. He's quick, likes to dribble and is a talented ball-carrier who's always forward-thinking. His early performances for Arsenal, most recently at West Ham in the Premier League, make it clear that he's an instinctive finisher who senses danger and arrives in the box at opportune moments.

The Brazilian is also not shy to put in a defensive shift for his team, often winning the ball back in his own half and then accelerating quickly in the transition, turning defence into attack as quickly as possible.
