Nigeria secured a final four slot after a 2-1 win over South Africa and are slated to face Algeria in their 15th semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles have failed to get to the semi-finals stage in only three of the 18 tournaments that they have participated in. The three occasions include their debut tournament back in 1963, 1982 and in 2008 where they were eliminated by bitter rivals Ghana in the quarterfinals.
In the fifteen times that they have gotten to the semi-finals, Nigeria have proceeded to the finals in seven occasions and have gone on to win the trophy on three occasions.
Nigeria have reached the semi-final of 15 out of 18 Africa Cup of Nations participation.
