Nigeria coach Rohr says his Tunisian past means nothing

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr believes working in Tunisia in the past will all be forgotten on the pitch.

Having lost 2-1 to Algeria in the AFCON 2019 semis, Nigeria face Tunisia in tonight’s third-place final. Rohr’s look ahead to this evening’s game included him remembering his time coaching Tunisian giants Étoile Sahel between 2009-10.

"I worked in Tunisia but on the pitch this means nothing. Both teams have similar ambitions and many young players who would like to win,” Rohr said via IOL.

The German coach took the time to show his high regard for his Tunisian opposite number - while also declaring that the North Africans have a lot of success coming.

"Alain Giresse is an experienced coach and I’m always happy to play against him. When you are one of the four best teams in the continent this is a good sign and we have to build on it. Tunisia is a team with a brilliant future,” concluded Rohr.

Tonight’s game is set to begin at 20:00 Nigerian time.
