Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Scott Mc Tominay and Andreas Pereira could replace Ander Herrera.
Herrera joined Paris Saint-Germain this summer as a free agent after the club failed to tie him down to a new contract. The duo signed new deals this year which will keep them until the summer of 2023 and are among just five senior central midfielders in the United squad, along with Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Fred.
"Andy (Pereira) I expect a lot more from, Scotty I expect a lot more from. Those two between them had maybe 15, 20 starts last season. You expect them to have at least 20 each this season, maybe even more,” he said.
"That’s maybe two players into one that can replace Ander,” he added.
United are in search for a midfielder and have been linked with a move for Newcastle youngster Sean Longstaff and Bruno Fernandes of Sporting Lisbon to reinforce their midfield. The Red Devils sold Marouane Fellaini to Shandong Luneng in January.
