Chelsea set to reduce Baba Rahman's price tag for suitors

Chelsea are reportedly negotiating on a deal that will be able to accept a cut-price offer for Baba Rahman as interested in the Ghanaian mounts.

Back in 2015, Rahman was playing for Bundesliga outfit, Ausburg before he was brought to Stamford Bridge for a fee that was in the range of £14 million at the time.

However, the move was to prove difficult as he struggled to get minutes on the pitch and was later dealt with injury woes - Chelsea were to eventually send him out on loan to Schalke 04 in 2016 and Reims later on.

According to Graphic Online reports, Fiorentina, Inter Milan and Ajax Amsterdam have emerged as the clubs are who are interested in signing him up - only if the Blues reduce their price tag on him.

According to Spanish newspaper AS the Ghana international has become a potential target for these clubs following his stellar performance in the Africa Cup of Nations.

“Baba's outstanding role in the last Africa Cup (three games, two assists), in which he excelled with Ghana to the point of being included in the ideal eleven of the tournament by the renowned InStat, has placed him in an advantageous position in the market”, the newspaper reported.

The report further exclaimed that his high wage bill would not pose any challenge to the suitors because the Stamford Bridge club was prepared to foot part of Rahman’s wage bill.

“His high salary is not going to be a handicap, because Chelsea could agree to pay it in part and, in case he received a sports project that would fully convince him, he would even accept to lower his token”.

“Given how we’re not all that keen on retaining a player who has just one year left on his contract, AS reports that Chelsea might be willing to accept a “reduced” transfer fee for the once highly promising youngster from the Bundesliga”
