Unai Emery calls for improvement ahead of Burnley tie

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has called on his side to improve their performance, as they prepare for the second match of the new Premier League.

The Gunners narrowly beat Newcastle 1-0 on Sunday in an underwhelming performance and will need to improve in subsequent matches.

Speaking on Thursday, Emery, however, said he was pleased with the three points and a winning start to a new season.

"We are happy with the three points, we played seriously, but I want it to improve in each position in the first XI,"

"We need better build-up, better progress with the combinations. We need better positioning when we are passing and when we are progressing with the ball, we need to find better solutions in the attacking third.

"My idea is to have a strong team to have competition in each position. We need to take confidence and rhythm. I am positive that we can improve for the next match against Burnley,"

"The clean sheet is important but the most important is to win. to have each match a clean sheet is perfect. I want to create a personality where we are an offensive team, but having a clean sheet is perfect,"

"We worked seriously and we were compact. We must improve our balance,"

Arsenal will next host Burnley on Saturday, knowing another win will keep the momentum going.
