Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos has ignited a war ahead of their clash against Liverpool after claiming it will be easier to defend against them than their last weekend opponents Burnley.
Speaking to the Evening Standard Sokratis said: “It is a different game. Maybe it is easier because you don’t have to fight a lot but they also play football.
“If they are on a good day and you are having a bad day, it is hard. In the end, we know that it is difficult and we respect Liverpool a lot. But I think the best [way] is to go and play our style of game. We will see what happens.
Arsenal suffered a 5-1 defeat at Anfield last season but the defender feels it will be a different outcome when they come up against each other in the weekend.
“I think this year will be different, but we have to improve of course from the work we do with the coach and his staff,” he added.
Sokratis has become the preferred candidate to partner summer signing David Luiz at the heart of the Arsenal defence.
