Midweek football nights are back and what better way for the fans to have their emotions shaken up with every result or lack thereof.
It is the UEFA Champions League after all and the football realm wouldn't have it any other way. Futaa takes a look at the five players representing Ghana on the European stage.
Thomas Partey (Atletico Madrid) 🔴🔵
The Ghana international is a household name in the La Liga and it was no surprise that clubs were vying for his signature during the summer transfer window. One thing he is known for is his long-range shots that have actually produced goals to the surprise of the opposition. Partey as a defensive midfielder has a lot of pace and depth - he certainly knows how to work the field.
Kwadwo Asamoah (Inter Milan) ⚫ 🔵
The Serie A journeyman. It's no surprise seeing his name considering the impressive career that he has had. The 30-year-old is special in the fact that he is versatile in his style of play - he can be a midfielder or be deployed as a defender but he knows how to make it work. His work ethic and energetic flair is very impressive and infectious. Despite being in a group with Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund, his experience will make the difference in the team and there is no reason for the Serie A side to not progress further.
Joseph Paintsil (KRC Genk) 💚 ⚪
The 21-year-old has been a prominent feature for the Belgian First Division A side and was a force to be reckoned on Genk's quest to Uefa Champions League qualification. He has managed to score one goal and secured an assist from 7 matches played. He is a player to look out for this season.
Majeed Ashimeru (Red Bull Salzburg) ⚪ 🔴
A midfield maestro in the making - that's what he has been tipped to be as his career progresses in the Austrian Bundesliga. One positive trait that works for him is that he is hardworking and hungry to prove himself and that will go a long way as the side progresses in the Champions League this season. He is young and exciting to watch as he steps on to the pitch. This is a kind of player you need that will do all the work in the midfield and use every opportunity to his advantage and for the better of the team.
Richmond Boakye (Crvena Zvezda) 🔴 ⚪
The 26-year-old has been quite the journeyman having previously plied his trade for Genoa, Atalanta and Juventus to name a few. He now finds himself playing for Crvena Zvezda in the Serbian League. Boakye is known to play short passes and when he is given the opportunity he can make means of shooting from a distance. It will be interesting to see what the Ghanaian will produce for the Serbian outfit when they take on Bayern Munich.
