πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦πŸ†πŸ§ Absa Premiership action: What to look out for tonight

Tueday's delight us with some special PSL football evenings - and tonight should be more of the same.

Steve Komphela is in Soweto, Kaizer Chiefs have five injured players, Benni McCarthy is winless in six. Chippa United and AmaZulu last won a football match last season.

  • Komphela’s second return to FNB

Former Amakhosi coach Steve Komphela makes a second return to Chiefs since leaving in 2017. Komphela nearly won during his previous trip in 2018. Nduduzi Sibiya’s 34th minute goal was canceled out by a 77th minute equalizer from Kgotso Moleka’s header.

"You have to be fresh against him [Ernst Middendorp], because he throws a lot of fresh dynamics. Sometimes he brings something that you never anticipated, you've got to go ready and also be ready for stuff you are not ready for,” Komphela told Kick Off ahead of the game.

  • Benni McCarthy’s hunt for away wins

To be countered among the league favourites and best teams in the league, McCarthy has made much about the team’s need to win away games. City are winless in five trips, with the last away win coming last seasons in a 3-2 win over Bidvest Wits.

  • AmaZulu to finally get first win?

Seven games without a win in a new season is incredible pressure. This is what will be haunting AmaZulu at home this evening. The longer the clock will tick without an early goal for Usuthu, the higher the stress for those in green. Jozef Vukusic’s men also have the danger of having to contain the likes of Kermit Erasmus and Thabo Nodada (both in rich scoring form).

  • Chippa desperate for first win

In the same alley as Stellenbosch FC and AmaZulu, Chippa are yet to win a single game. The 2019/20 season is now seven games in. But making two coaching changes in seven games does not do much to help the situation. Worst of all, a ruthless Bidvest Wits is in town.

  • Middendorp’s forced to ring changes

Chiefs will look different. The club has suffered a crazy list of four groin injuries: Itumeleng Khune, Samir Nurkovic (head), Reeve Frosler, Kearyn Baccus and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya. We could therefore see the likes of James Kotei, Leonardo Castro, Willard Katsande, Joseph Molangoane, Philani Zulu and Njabulo Blom.
