Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi has revealed reasons why Mesut Ozil has been given playtime by head coach Unai Emery.
Sanllehi says Ozil's attitude in training has led to Emery snubbing the midfielder. The former Real Madrid midfielder has made just two appearances for the Gunners in the Premier League this season will Emery preferring the likes of Dani Ceballos and Joe Willock in his starting XI. Reports claim that Ozil's absence narrows down to his failure to impress Emery in training and the head coach has made no secret of his belief that other players in his squad deserve to play ahead of the Germany international.
And Sanllehi has suggested Ozil needs to increase his work ethic if he needs to reclaim his place.
"Unai's policy has always been to play the ones that work hard in training," he said during Thursday's fans forum.
The 30-year-0ld featured for Arsenal against Watford as his side settled for a 2-2 draw at home and also the win over Nottingham Forest. And despite impressing in both matches and persistent calls from fans to see him play more, the midfielder has not featured since.
"I am thinking every time to decide the best players for each match and the best players in the squad to play and to help us."
