Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane expects his team to be as ruthless Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

Mosimane’s side became the team of the weekend after bashing a hapless AmaZulu 5-0 in Telkom Knockout last 16 clash in Pretoria on Sunday.

Sundowns’ ‘angry’ win was also a response to last weekend’s embarrassing 4-2 defeat to rivals Kaizer Chiefs in a Shell Helix clash.

Kabo Yellow’s 5-0 drubbing of Usuthu was wholly inspired by their South American strike force. Jose Ali Meza opened the scoring in the first half, followed by Gaston Sirino’s brace and a late Muaricio Affonso header.

“We played well, we played proper. But it’s not always about 5-0. It can be 2-0 as long as you play proper,” Mosimane told SuperSport TV after the game.

“We had to had to slow it down, especially in the second half. We played in very high weather conditions.”

The former Bafana Bafana coach went to highlight Sundowns and South African football’s tendencies to show complacency when carrying a big lead.

“I think sometimes we suffer from the South African mentality. When we are three, four goals up, we start wanting to show you’re good on the ball. We need more precision. Accurate passing, accurate crossing and the finish.”

“If Manchester City can score 8. Bayern can score seven goals against Spurs, we can’t we?” concluded Mosimane.

Up next for Sundowns is some league football. Kabo Yellow will take on Highlands Park on Wednesday at 19:30 in Pretoria.
